Dates extended to help members impacted by hurricanes Debby and Helene in Florida

FL

We’re sharing this information in case you have clients in the impacted areas.

On March 17, 2025, Governor Ron DeSantis extended the state of emergency he declared in August, 2024, for 54 Florida counties impacted by Hurricanes Debby and Helene, as well as the war in Israel. To ensure that the temporary changes we made to our health plan benefits continue to provide needed relief for Anthem and Wellpoint members living in these Florida counties, we are extending the period that these changes are effective.

The changes are in effect between August 2, 2024, and May 16, 2025, for residents of the following Florida counties:

Alachua, Baker, Bay, Bradford, Brevard, Calhoun, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Duval, Escambia, Flagler, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Glades, Gulf, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lake, Lee, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Manatee, Marion, Monroe, Nassau, Okaloosa, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, Sumter, Suwannee, Taylor, Union, Volusia, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington counties.

The changes also apply to emergency responders who have been activated to the impacted area by their state or local agency, but who do not live in the impacted area.

We are here to help make sure your clients and their members have access to the healthcare they need. We can help with finding available doctors, refilling prescription drugs, and other health plan questions. For assistance during this emergency, members can call us using the Member Services number on their health plan ID card Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
